CHECKOUT EXPERIENCES
GROUP 5
Each member of the group accepted they had a variety of cleaning standards. They were leaving at different times before the checkout, so they wanted to avoid the final clean of the common areas being left to one or two people and avoid paying compensation to us for any end of tenancy cleaning!
They obtained a quote and ordered a professonal clean six weeks before the checkout. They showed them the 'Checkout Guide' and included, as extras, a professional clean of their stair carpet, wheelie bins and food waste containers and a window cleaner for the external windows. They thought the bill for all this was good value (divided between four people), saving them hours of time!
This meant that their only major cleaning commitment for them was to wash/iron or dry clean curtains, loose furniture covers, mattress protectors and bathroom mats. They also allowed time to complete any minor tenant repairs e.g. tighten furniture screws, replace dead lightbulbs, empty the wheelie bins and food waste containers and arrange for all keys to be at the checkout. They moved all their belongings out of the house prior to the professional clean.
They made sure the company was aware of their checkout day. They had allowed two working days after the professional clean to inspect their work before the checkout. There were a couple of snagging issues, e.g. dishwasher not pulled out and cleaned underneath and limescale on taps, so there was time for the cleaning company to return and sort these out before the checkout.
