Compensation may be charged for badly stained or damaged stair carpets and for curtains or furnishings left uncleaned.

GENERAL CLEANING

The property must be cleaned to the original check-in standard to avoid compensation. If using professional cleaners, check this includes all items in this guide. Some companies exclude tasks such as removing limescale, cleaning wheelie bins, under appliances, inside ovens or replacing cooker hood filters.

Your vacuum cleaner should be clean and empty at the checkout. Windows should be clean; external window cleaners may require at least three weeks' notice.

Tip: Use an old toothbrush to remove mould between tiles.

We decide on what is fair wear and tear versus excessive dilapidation. Compensation may be required for items not cleaned to original standard, including (for example):

Dirty bins and containers
