PAYING YOUR RENT
Your rent is paid monthly in advance by electronic transfer to our nominated account.
Rent must be paid in cleared funds in a single consolidated payment on the first day of each calendar month (being the first day of each rental period). Rent may be paid earlier, if desired. Any apportionment of rent between you is a private matter and does not affect your obligations to us.
You should make paying the rent on time your first priority, because the consequences of not paying could be the loss of your home. A future landlord may insist on a reference from a previous landlord. The first question they usually ask in a reference is whether you have paid your rent regularly and on time.
UTILITY BILLS (Gas, Electricity and Water)
You pay all utility bills. All properties fitted with water meters and SMART electricity and gas meters. You provide an electricity/gas/water meter reading at start and end of tenancy.
COUNCIL TAX
All people who own or rent a home, with some exceptions, are liable for Council Tax. You pay the Council Tax, however full time students are exempt from Council Tax.
Exemption is not automatic. It is your responsibility to tell Warwick District Council (WDC) if you live in a student property. Complete a WDC online 'moving into new address (for students)' form, with evidence of your student status by providing a copy of your student ID (usually a card for Warwick University students) and the first and last pages of your tenancy agreement at:
